The Shape of a Heart: Helping Parents Teach and Understand the Human Spirit

The Bible teaches that man is more than flesh and emotion.
There is a spirit within us, and “out of it flows the issues of life.”

The Shape of a Heart helps parents understand what scripture teaches about the human spirit and equips them to communicate these truths clearly and practically to their preteens.

This course explores how the spirit functions, why spiritual formation matters, and how parents can disciple children beyond behavior by helping them understand conviction, communion with God, discernment, worship, spiritual sensitivity, and the inner life.

Parents will learn how to:

• Understand the biblical role of the human spirit
• Teach children how the spirit influences life and decision-making
• Help preteens recognize conviction, discernment, and spiritual sensitivity
• Build rhythms that strengthen spiritual awareness in the home
• Teach children how to guard and steward their inner life
• Disciple children from the inside out rather than through behavior management alone

Because when the spirit is formed rightly, life flows differently.
